But, Anna Shinoda did something incredible, she didn't use her husband's fame and contacts to get her book into the world, she did it off of her own back: she went out and got her own publishing deal and agent, as well as promoting the book herself. It wasn't until someone asked who her husband was, that people realized who she was married to.
Her website bio (https://annashinoda.wordpress.com/about/) tells an unlikely story about Anna, that she "was raised in a mountain town so small it lacked a stoplight. She used to escape into the high branches of trees to read and dream of stories, out of reach from her own family skeleton."
Anna herself has spoken about the book, calling it "...a work of fiction, but it comes from a very real, raw place. From me".

She met her husband, Mike Shinoda, in 1998 while she was in college. It was after a 'Xero' show (Linkin Park's original name before finding Chester and changing their name) at a party at Brad and Phoenix's apartment that her friend, Mark Wakefield, introduced her to Mike. On Anna's blog, she writes about her first encounter with Mike "I don't remember what date it was... But I do remember Mike (Shinoda) handing me this tape and leading me around the party by the hand as if we had been dating for months instead of just meeting that evening."
Anna and Mike have now been married for almost 16 years this year (they married in 2003) and now Anna is currently planning her newest book.
